Anonymous asked: Isaiah Mustafa is not an action star and does not have the muscle to pull of Luke Cage. Dwayne Johnson on the other hand actually has the body of a "Power Man". Terry Crews would be the other great choice.
I’ve tried to answer this a couple of times, but I keep getting too wound up half way through, so shorter and sweet it is.
I can see why people would want Dwayne Johnson and Terry Crews because physically they look more like the illustrated version of Luke Cage.
I would rather have a stronger actor play the role because then it is more likely that we would actually get a Luke Cage movie (maybe him marrying Jessica or her having a baby and them having to protect the child).
So while Isaiah Mustafa may not look exactly like the role, I’m certain that the world would be just fine if he bulked up a bit and rocked that role out. He seems to have done well enough in Nikita and Chuck to make me think that he would be a good enough choice.
And honestly, that bullshit of “blah blah isn’t that type of actor” pisses me off. It keeps talented people pigeonholed in roles and keeps them from getting roles that they would do really well in. Leslie Nielson (from the Naked Gun movies) started out as a dramatic actor. Like, nary a comedy in sight actor. Eventually someone put him in a comedy and he found his niche. Sometimes all you need is someone to go “let’s try this guy.”
Minor Note: Terry Crews is a good supporting actor. Dude can’t carry his own movie in a bucket. Dwayne Johnson would have a better chance since he’s a decent enough actor, he’s just always BETTER when he has people to play off of and occasionally pull focus.
I’ve watched a lot of television over the years. I’ve been a fan of many shows. A number of the shows were good, but were always lacking something or were problematic in a really inescapable way that makes it harder to actually enjoy the show.
Then Elementary happened. A show that, if it isn’t perfect, is as close as it could get.
Months ago (MONTHS), I mentioned to a few friends that it would be really cool if xyz happened but was doubtful that it would. And the writers, bless the writers, did it. And it was glorious. I mean it was fan-fucking-tastic.
I just. Right now, I will throw down against anyone that has anything bad to say about this show and any of the characters in it.
A coworker was telling me about a shitty thing that happened to her this weekend. Said incident is behind a read more because it involves inappropriate sexual contact and people being assholes.
